10 Must-do’s in Miami: LOVE YOUR CITY MORE

10 Must-do’s in Miami: LOVE YOUR CITY MORE

There’s no argument that we live in one of the most beautiful cities in the country, if not the world. Miami has amazing weather all year, lots of cultural activities (more and more every year!), great food, a blend of people, and countless others. Unfortunately, just like people in every other city, we need to work and many times, end up in that daily grind and forget to take advantage of our gorgeous city. These are my top 10 must-do’s in Miami – I hope you can get out there and try a few!

#1: Get out on the water

The best place to experience Miami, as far as I’m concerned, is to see it from the water. Go fishing, rent a paddleboard or a boat, take our Pilates H2O class, do anything to get out there!

#2: Explore our many state parks

Oleta, Bill Baggs, the Barnacle, and Matheson Hammock are steps from our front doors and have so much to offer! Coming from the Northeast, I can hardly call it “hiking” down here, but it’s really nice to explore the trails (and all of the above are dog friendly on the trails).

#3: Wander around Wynwood

Whether you have an appreciation for art or not, Wynwood is one of the coolest places to explore. There’s some sort of hidden art/design gem around every corner; and the food is pretty amazing too.

#4: Museums

We might not be Manhattan, but there are certainly some fun and awesome museums to check out. PAMM, Bass Museum of Art, Frost Art Museum, The Miami Science Museum, The Wolfsonian, The Lowe, Vizcaya, Miami Children’s Museum… just to name a few!

#5: Farmer’s Markets

We have quite a few great ones here in the area. My favorites are the Grove Farmer’s Market on Saturday, and Pinecrest Farmer’s Market on Sunday. I love these two because they have so many great local vendors!

#6: Food!

Again, we’re no Manhattan when it comes to food choices, but we have some pretty amazing foods to sample from so many different countries! Check out some Haitian food from Tap Tap on the beach or Cuban from a local Latin Café.

#7: Walking city tour of Little Havana

Did you know that there’s a “Little Havana Walking Tour”? There is! And it’s actually rated in top travel guides. It’s a two hour tour that brings you through the ins and outs of the vibrant culture of Little Havana.

#8: Bike riding in shark valley

Ok, so I know Shark Valley isn’t technically in Miami, it’s in the Everglades, but it’s such an awesome place to bike! The wildlife is just amazing and you really don’t feel like you’re even remotely close to Miami.

#9: See it from the sky

This one is new to me, but OH. MY. GOODNESS! I recently went skydiving from Kendall-Tamiami Airport for a sunrise skydive and had the most amazing time of my life. Not only was the thrill absolutely amazing, but the views of the sunrise over the ocean were breathtaking. Now I understand that launching one’s self out of a plane isn’t for everyone, but there are other options, like a helicopter tour.

#10: Relax with an amazing massage

My guilty pleasure. I touch people all day long, so every once in a while, I really like to get worked on myself. Usually it’s from my wonderful massage therapist friend, but sometimes, I really like to indulge and go to one of the fantastic spas that Miami has to offer. Some of my favorites include, The Standard Hotel, The Thompson Hotel, The Setai, and The Mandarin.

With Peace and Love,
